Cane bannetons or proofing baskets (banneton is the French for proofing basket) made by hand for BakeryBits, to our size requirements using cane (or rattan) wound to make the required shape. The spiral pattern leaves a signature pattern of artisanal bread on the baked dough. Made from natural materials, the baskets are tough, attractive and biodegradable.

Sustainable Basket Material
Our baskets are made in Europe with rattan (or cane) grown in the humid tropics where it is very fast growing and gives poor farmers an additional crop during the year, giving them income to reduce the temptation to move to the cities. It grows and regrows very quickly and as such is a sustainable and biodegradable product.
