500g Oval Cane Banneton

This 500g oval cane banneton is a traditional rattan proofing basket for supporting shaped dough during its final prove. The oval shape suits smaller bâtards and sourdough loaves, helping the dough hold its structure before it is turned out for scoring and baking.

Cane bannetons leave the distinctive spiral pattern often associated with artisan sourdough. Dust the basket well before use with rice flour, rye flour or another suitable flour to help prevent sticking, then place the shaped dough seam-side up in the basket for its final prove.

For easier release and a smoother finish, use with the matching 250-500g oval banneton liner. The liner is sold separately, so you can choose the banneton on its own or add a liner if you prefer to use one.

After use, allow the banneton to dry fully, brush out any excess flour and store it in a dry place. Cane bannetons are for proving only and should not be put in the oven.
