The Sourdough School
The Sourdough SchoolThe Sourdough School has developed a range of hand crafted sourdough products. You will often hear Tutor Vanessa talking about hands, heart and mind connecting though baking with wild yeast, and that artisan bread starts with artisan products. These are practical hand crafted products, made by artisans for artisan bakers.
Located in Northamptonshire, the Sourdough School is set in the beautiful gardens of sourdough baker Vanessa Kimbell. The School specialises in tutoring small groups in the art of fermentation & sourdough bread. The Sourdough School, which is certified organic, was was featured in the Sunday Times in the top 3 courses in the UK and in The Telegraph top 10 baking course in the UK, and in the Evening Standard. There are guest sourdough bakers tutoring and students travel from all over the world to attend classes taught on a old French table, where they are served cultured butter, home made jam from fruit grown in the kitchen gardens, wild fermented wine to sip on an battered sofa that belonged to Vanessa’s grandmother.
Class dates are limited to a few dozen a year and are run by Vanessa Kimbell, a French trained baker who specialises in naturally leavened bread. Vanessa, who has a keen interest in the digestibility of bread, is also the in house baker at Bakerybits, an award winning author, a regular BBC radio 4 Journalist, and unsurprisingly as 4th generation baker and is of Italian decent, known for her warmth and as Diana Henry once noted her ” inimitable humour.” For more information about the sourdough school courses go to sourdough.co.uk
