Handmade English Oak Breadboard and Bread Knife Gift Set

Our handmade English oak breadboard and Emil Schmidt 21cm German wooden-handled bread knife are combined in a gift box to make an ideal present. This offers a saving compared to the items bought separately.

Devon-based cabinetmaker, David Lloyd, designs and makes the most beautiful furniture. We asked if he could make for us the very best bread boards using the finest timber.

We’re blessed on these maritime islands with English Oak that has plenty of character in its grain and when cut in a special way (quarter-sawn) the medullary rays are revealed, golden darts across the grain for stunning effect. Quarter-sawn timber is also the most stable for use in furniture. The soil, local weather conditions are amongst a host of factors that cause oak to vary considerably from tree-to-tree and from board-to-board. Each 41x25x2cm oak bread board is hand-made and unique. Finished with natural tung oil, we’ve packed them in a gift box making them ideal for a present.

Note that these are handmade and so availability is limited. Natural oak bread-boards are tough but should never be immersed in water. Simply wipe clean and from time-to-time lightly wipe over with tung oil.
