Baker at Thoughtful Bread

Thoughtful Bread is an eco-artisan bakery based in Bath, South West England producing hand-crafted bread from local, seasonal ingredients for Bath's restaurants, delis, and the general public.

Since our relocation into the World Heritage City of Bath’s city centre, Thoughtful Bread now boasts a bustling retail shop, busy bakery school and bakery production facility all under one roof.

The suitable candidate would join a small but tight-knit crew of bakers responsible for producing the fantastic, award winning range of baked goods.

The role would involve both front of house (retail sales, food preparation etc) and supporting the bakers with daily production.

There is plenty of room for the role to develop for the right candidate.

We bake 6 days a week, Sunday to Friday, but the role is full time, 5 days a week. Because of the nature of the job, the shifts would be predominantly night work (11pm starts) but will allow regular day time shifts to focus on product development.

Sadly, we will require someone with previous baking experience but will consider candidates with prior commercial catering background. The job is full-on but very rewarding and by joining us you would get the chance to work in a bakery which is really going somewhere. There are no egos at Thoughtful Bread so everyone’s contribution, opinion and ideas are taken onboard.

  • If you want to learn from the bottom up then we have an apprenticeship position also available through the City of Bath college.

  • Good personal cleanliness 
  • Able to remain calm and focussed under pressure
  • A passion for bread and baking!
