Synonymous with artisan baking in the UK and around the world, Dan teaches a limited number of classes which are equally suitable for enthusiastic beginners, passionate bread makers who wants to refine and develop their skills and even professional chefs who want to learn how to make really good bread for their hotel, b&b or restaurant.

Classes cover the most important aspects of sourdough baking, from starting and keeping a healthy sourdough starter, through making several recipes which demonstrate different approaches to making bread, onto the finished loaves coming out of the oven. There is also plenty of time for questions and answers, either over the traditional Cookery School lunch (with bread baked by Dan), or later in the afternoon. You will go home with flour, starter, the bread you have baked, recipes & class notes, and hopefully your confidence and expertise at record levels!

Classes run from 9.00am to approximately 4.30pm, but please arrive by 8.45am for tea, coffee and a light breakfast.

Dan aims to provide a fairly full day of practical bread making tuition. The location is not wheelchair accessible (one flight of stairs) and the class size is limited to 14 people. All bookings should be made through Cookery School, or visit Dan's website at if there's anything you'd like to check before booking.
