Head Baker for Gatienau

Summary: We are a small independent French patisserie and bakery business that has been successfully trading for the past 10 years. We produce all patisserie and bakery products in house to supply our front shop and wholesale clients including local restaurants, cafes and university colleges. This year we have invested in a newly fitted kitchen production unit which is due to be finished by the end of May, and with that we have new job positions available to start as soon as possible.

Job Description: A crucial and vital role to the success of our bakery business is that of the Head Baker. The Head Baker will be responsible for the overall production of bakery products (breads, viennoiserie, madeleines, quiches, etc) and the training and oversight of other bakery production workers. The Head Baker will be trained in the recipes formulated especially for the social enterprise bakery and then will be responsible for training other bakery production workers, oversee quality and provide a structured, coaching-oriented supervisory style. Must be willing to work with trainees/apprentices that have limited prior baking experience as well.

Contract: Permanent

Expected Hours: Full time

Personal Qualities: Eligible to work in the UK, trustworthy, good sense of humour, team player

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: 1. Min of 4 years culinary experience and or training. 2. Culinary degree or relevant experience. 3. Supervisory experience 4. Proven experience training other staff in culinary / baking 5. Able to use Microsoft Office suite
