The Hawos Toni is a natural clay sprouter for growing fresh seed and grain sprouts at home. Made in Germany from porous fired clay, it is designed to create conditions similar to those seeds experience in soil: dark, moist and well aerated.
The set consists of a lid, a base dish and three stackable sprouting dishes. The open-pored clay can absorb around 10% of its own weight in water and release it gradually, helping keep the seeds evenly moist without leaving them sitting in water. Good airflow through the porous clay also supports healthy germination.
Use the Toni for sprouting seeds and cereals to add fresh flavour, texture and interest to breads, salads and other foods. Sprouted grains can be especially appealing in bread making, bringing a sweet, fresh character and a pleasantly chewy bite.
The sprouter is compact and simple to use, with enough capacity for approximately 1 tablespoon of seeds across the three trays. The bottom bowl is glazed on the inside with a lead-free glaze, while the remaining clay parts are left untreated so they can absorb and release moisture naturally.
