Flour at BakeryBits

Our flour range brings together organic and speciality flours from artisan mills—heritage wheat, rye, spelt and more. Perfect for bread, sourdough, cakes and pastry.
Organic & Speciality Flours
We stock flours from mills we know and trust, chosen for flavour, quality and consistency. Organic flours dominate our range, supporting sustainable farming and giving bakers natural, reliable ingredients.
Heritage Grains
Discover flours milled from heritage wheats such as emmer, einkorn and khorasan. These older grains offer distinctive flavours, digestibility and a connection to traditional baking methods.
Rye & Alternative Grains
For robust sourdoughs and richly flavoured breads, our rye flours are a baker’s staple. We also offer spelt, einkorn, chestnut and maize flours—each bringing unique taste and texture.
Bags & Bulk Options
Choose the size that suits your baking—from 1kg bags for home use to 25kg sacks for busy bakeries. All are milled with the same care, regardless of size.
Unfortified Flours
Many bakers prefer unfortified flour, without the legally required additives found in most supermarket products. Much of our flour is supplied in its natural state, unfortified, giving you the freedom to bake with nothing but the grain itself.
Choosing the Right Flour
Whether you’re building strength in sourdough, creating light cakes or experimenting with heritage grains, you’ll find the right flour here. Explore our flour subcategories to browse by type or mill.
FAQs
Are all BakeryBits flours organic?
Most of our flours are certified organic, though we also offer a small number of speciality non-organic flours where the quality justifies inclusion.
What are heritage grains?
Heritage grains such as emmer, einkorn and khorasan are older wheat varieties. They offer distinctive flavours and are valued for their traditional qualities in bread and pastry.
Do you sell gluten-free flours?
We stock naturally gluten-free flours such as buckwheat and chestnut, but as they are milled in facilities handling wheat we do not label them as gluten-free.
Can I buy flour in bulk?
Yes—we offer sizes up to 25kg sacks for professional kitchens and bakeries. The same quality is available in smaller bags for home bakers.
Which flour is best for sourdough?
Strong bread flours and rye flours are most commonly used. Many bakers also blend heritage wheats for flavour and digestibility.
What is unfortified flour and why do bakers prefer it?
Unfortified flour is flour milled and sold in its natural state, without added enrichment. Many bakers value it for purity, flavour and its connection to traditional baking. Learn more in our blog article on flour fortification..
